the decepticons landed on the roof of a building and started shooting down the autobots. picking their targets, the autobots turned out all of their guns on one target at a time, causing massive damage to the city-block-sized building. as the autobots surrounded optimus, the latter ordered them to leave him alone. just as the decepticons were about to beat down on optimus, hot spot rammed into them and smashed a lance on their right leg. it was then that hot spot explained to optimus how the decepticons had captured him and optimus; optimus explained what he had overheard from hot spot's mind. hot spot also explained that the decepticons had gone ahead and planted the matrix within sentinel's matrix, and this was how they could command their legion. optimus then explained to hot spot that they would need to drain the matrix out of sentinel and take back the matrix. optimus suggested that hot spot trick sentinel and then escape, which hot spot agreed to.
